GC: Veiw the City by sniffme (GC225G8)

After filling up the last of the logbook and returning the 1st Birthday Celebration! by Tiki Touring (GC1ADQD) geocache to its original resting place we continued our trek uphill towards where we suspected the Veiw the City by sniffme (GC225G8) geocache was located. Craig managed to find a map that confirmed there was indeed a lookout at the top. We kept going through the forest, passing many flowers and a lot more bush turkeys before finally reaching the lookout which was overrun with muggles but they didn't seem to mind as we climbed and looked around the place before Craig found it tucked away in its hiding place. We signed the logbook but were unable to swap trinkets as this was a micro sized cache again. We enjoyed the view for a little while then headed back down to go home a few long hours after starting.

GC: 1st Birthday Celebration! by Tiki Touring (GC1ADQD)

After finding the Ferndamantal by sniffme (GC225G3) geocache we took up the hunt for the Veiw the City by sniffme (GC225G8) geocache again. We pieced together some of the information and figured that we needed to head up to higher ground where we would be able to see the city from a lookout.

The iPhone application lead us astray again after telling us the 1st Birthday Celebration! by Tiki Touring (GC1ADQD) geocache was nearby. After some time in the forest of Coot-tha and trip trapping over many troll-free bridges, we tracked this one down too. Tree cover did make the GPS co-ordinates a bit off but we figured it out pretty easily anyway. We're all smart cookies! Honest! :) We were able to swap trinkets for this one as it was bigger than the previous one and had a few left in there.

GC: Ferndamantal by sniffme (GC225G3)

After we polished off lunch and entered the botanic gardens we started looking for the Veiw the City by sniffme (GC225G8) geocache. Martine and Craig had been looking around for this one on a previous visit. They'd spent over an hour looking for it using both a handheld GPS and iPhone 3GS with no success. We had a look around the area they were looking in but didn't find it either.

We did find another one close by thanks to the iPhone application so we put the hunt on hold and went looking for the Ferndamantal by sniffme (GC225G3) geocache. We found it pretty quickly while checking out the fernhouse and seeing a lot of the wildlife in the area at the same time including bush turkeys, ducks and ibises. This was our first micro sized cache so unfortunately it didn't have trinkets for us to swap.

After this we headed off to find the original cache we started with...

GC: Multiple Geocaches in the Mount Coot-tha Botanical Gardens

Yesterday we went up Mount Coot-tha with another couple we know from church (Martine and Craig) who are into geocaching as well. They showed us around the area which was nice seeing as we haven't been up there much before. We went around the lesser-known part and found a nice barbecue spot to have some lunch before heading back down and exploring the botanic gardens for geocaches. We then went on to find 3 geocaches:

GC: Cicada Song by Crew 153 (GCMJY9)

Another weekend, another fix! A little bit closer to home this time. We located the "Cicada Song" by Crew_153 geocache today. This was a rather large cache which was a big help.

Tomorrow we're going geocaching with another couple that we know who started geocaching just before us. Should be interesting :)

GC: Collingwood Park Lights Up 2 by Tekfukoi and Sambo22 (GC1K0RM)

With each passing day the addiction grows in strength and power... It must be stopped! NAH! So we found the "Collingwood Park Lights Up 2" by Tekfukoi and Sambo22 (GC1K0RM) geocache today :P

We scouted this one out while we were on the way to picking up an item for a private sale. It was a bit tricky to work out exactly where it was. The clue mentioned a seat but there were three and it didn't specify which one. While we were digging around and looking for more information over a very slow 3G internet connection via iPhone we were approached by one of the local children and who we assume was his father. They knew what we were looking for, which we confirmed with them, and they helped us find it.

Reading the logs afterwards it seems this isn't the first time this has happened. It also seems that this geocache has attracted a lot of attention and was once checked out by the local authorities before being classed as safe. There was also a nice print out with a message and explaining geocaching for anyone who may have stumbled upon it accidently.
